Finance Forum (formerly Urban Finance Forum) was officially published in January, 1996 and renamed as Finance Forum in November 2000 under the approval of General Administration of Press and Publication.

Finance Forum is governed by ICBC and jointly sponsored by China Urban Financial Society and ICBC Urban Finance Research Institute. Finance Forum is a journal of "Theoretical Research on Financial Application" with theses on banking, securities, insurance and investment. The magazine encourages standard and scientific approach to research, academic innovation and academic freedom. Today, Finance Forum is a key periodical for China human social science, key Chinese periodical, source periodical for Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) and key periodical of Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE). Finance Forum is one flagship publication in financial research and well-respected in the China's financial academic circles and practitioners.

Finance Forum has a clear focus on hot topics in economic and financial sector. Since 2001, the magazine has generated wide response in the academic circle and financial sector by organizing numerous academic papers and seminars, namely, "WTO and China Banking Sector - Operation & Policy Directions in Transition-Period for WTO Entry", "Reform on Governance Structure in Chinese Commercial Banks", "Carbon Finance & China Banking Sector", "The 10th Anniversary of China's WTO Accession - Chinese Banks Opening to the World and Going International", "Corporate Governance reform of Commercial Banks in China: Progress, Issues and Trend".
