Chinese Shares Close Lower Monday - Oct. 8
 

Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, tracking the decline trend of major global stock indexes.

All three major indexes in China tumbled by more than 3 percent.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell down 3.72 percent to close at 2,716.51 points. The Shenzhen Component Index, meanwhile, closed 4.05 percent lower at 8,060.83 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 288.9 billion yuan (about 41.89 billion U.S. dollars), up from 263.21 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most shares declined, with losers outnumbering gainers 1,325 to 76 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,918 to 115 on the Shenzhen bourse.

The wine sector dropped the most on Monday, with the sub-index down 5.69 percent. Shanxi Xinghuacun Fen Wine Factory lost 8.08 percent to close at 43.47 yuan per share while Tonghua Grape Wine saw a 7.95 percent drop to end at 4.17 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 4.09 percent to end at 1,353.67 points.
